SNIP!!!

Happy Tuesday Yall! It is rainy and cold here today! Brrrrr!!!! I finished up this layout last night for the May Guest DT Contest on Treasured Scrapbooking. This is Carter getting one of his first haircuts. You'll have to excuse this pic. There is not a ray of sunlight today and this was the best pic I could get. LOL

Emboss It Twice!!!

Happy Monday Yall! This week at The Cuttlebug Spot, we have a fun challenge lined up. It is called 'Emboss It Twice.' Here is the link for you:

http://thecuttlebugspot.blogspot.com/2009/03/challenge-24-emboss-it-twice.html

Here is my card for this week. I had to do a little staging with some of my Mom's beautiful dishes.

Here is a better view of the card. I used the Cricut Doodlecharms cartridge for my ice cream cone. I double embossed on the red cardstock. I used D'Vine Swirl first and then ran it through again using Swiss Dots.

I also added some cherry printed ribbon. I got it at Michaels in the $1 bin. The pink you see underneath the cherry ribbon is actually a cupcake liner. It is such an easy way to add pleats to your work without all the hassle. Talk about inexpensive too!!! I think 100 of these in a pack are less than $2!

Here is a close up of my ice cream cone. I used Argyle for the cone. I ran the top portion of the ice cream through using D'Vine Swirl. I then went over the swirls with Stickles. I also inked up my red cherry with Versamark and then sprinkled on red embossing powder. This really gives it a shiny, waxy texture that you would see on a real cherry.

Upclose of the ribbon and cupcake liner used to make pleats.

I got this stamp in the $1 bin at Michaels also. This view also shows my double embossing in the background a bit better.

So do come on over to The Cuttlebug Spot and join in on another fun challenge! I can't wait to see all of your creations!
Take care and have a beautiful day!

Twilight

Hey yall! How are you doing? I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I had a very busy, but very fun weekend. We are really having a fun time with our family here in Alabama. Sadly though, my hubby, Brandon had to leave yesterday to go back to Pennsylvania. I am staying on in Bama for about a month. So hopefully I can start blogging again on a daily basis. I miss it! But me and Mom have been busy scrappin' away. We each got several things done this weekend. I can't show you all of it yet since some of it is DT work, but I will show you what I can.

First, I have to confess! LOL. I am in LOVE with the Twilight series! I am on book two, 'New Moon' right now and am having a ball reading these. I knew when I completed the first book, that I would have to scrap it. I had so much fun creating this layout!! I also used this layout for a challenge on Just Scrappin' for our birthday crop. I ordered the 3-D paper piecings you see from a lady in Canada. I just love them. I incorporated some delicate lace near the bottom because it reminds me of the sweater Bella is wearing at the prom. Here is the layout....

I wrote down one of my fave quotes from the novel, which reads: "About three things I was absolutely positive: First, Edward was a vampire; Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how dominant that part might be - that thirsted for my blood; and third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him."

Yes, I admit it, I have OCD=Obsessive Cullen Disorder! LOL. Just an FYI in case you have not read the book, the handsome vampire in the novel is Edward Cullen.

You'll have to excuse the title. I wanted to shake things up a bit with my Twilight layout. LOL. I used Stone Script for the lettering. I also used my Martha Stewart 'Drippy Goo' punch to resemble blood dripping, after all, Twilight is about vampires.

One of my fave quotes from the book..."And So The Lion Fell In Love With The Lamb." I used Making Memories Tiny Alphas for the quote.

This is a ticket stub that came along with the paper piecings I ordered. It says "When You Can Live Forever, What Do You Live For? underneath the picture of the novel. Then above the barcode it reads..."I feel very safe with you," another quote from the novel.

Next, I did this LO for a challenge on Just Scrappin'. The challenge was to use one sheet of cardstock, one sheet of patterned paper, one picture, a one word title, and one technique (I chose distressing with ink.) I made this layout for my Mom. I also incorporated some new blue lacy trim that I got for $1 a yard at Hobby Lobby this past weekend! I tell yall, I am on a ribbon/trim/lace kick! I have to have more! I bet me and Mom got 15 various trims for around $15 this week at HL. Here is this one:

I did this layout for the 'Just Add Scraps' Challenge this past weekend on Treasured Scrapbooking. Carter loves to blow air into his milk to make what he calls a 'volcano.' LOL. I used Plantin' School book for the rounded edge squares.

This layout is for a challenge I am hosting on Just Scrappin'. I gave a sketch and you had to make a girly/glam layout. I chose to scrap one of my idols, Marilyn Monroe. One of my good friends, KarenB, sent me these papers and embellishments. I just adore them! Thank you Karen!!!! Here is the layout:

I cut my title, 'Some Like It Hot' with the Cursive 101 cartridge. The pink trim is some more of my finds at Hobby Lobby this weekend. It reminded of ruffles and I had to have it being the girly girl I am. LOL.

I wrote on a journaling page that KarenB sent along with the goodies.

This is another 3-D paper piecing that I special ordered. This is my fave portrait of Marilyn.

Chucky Cheese and Some Scrappy Stuff

Hey yall! How are ya? I am still in Bama visiting family. I don't get to blog as much because we are so busy doing different things. But I am having a ball. I have been scrapping some. I will share that as well. But first, I wanted to share a few pix from today. Aunt Mamie and Uncle Brandon took Carter out for the day today. We had so much fun! We took him to Chucky Cheese since it was raining. Here are some pix:

Then, we went to Wal Mart and bought Carter a new ball and a airplane. Yep, he is spoiled by us, but that is what Aunt's and Uncles are for right? LOL. On the way home, we decided to stop by the park here in Russellville. Here are some pix:

Brandon's birthday was this past Tuesday. As most of you know, my hubby works for the railroad and loves trains. So we each did a card for him related to trains. This first card is my Mom's card to Brandon.

Here is my card for him:

Finally, last night, Mom and I each got a layout done for a challenge on Just Scrappin. I thought I would share those as well. Here is hers:

And here is mine:

The title is hidden on this layout. It is on a tag behind the picture. Here it is pulled out:

As always, thanks for stopping by! Take care!!!

Sweet Home Alabama

Hey yall! How is it goin'? Good I hope. Well, the hubby and I drove down to Bama this past Saturday and I have been busy busy!!! The 13 hour drive was not too bad. Actually, it was probably the easiest so far. It feels so good to be home!!!!!!!! I am enjoying spending time with both of our families. Me and Mom have been scrappin' up a storm!! LOL. I wanted to share all that we had finished. Mom does not have a blog of her own, but we are going to make her one while I am at home visiting. So for now, I will share her beautiful creations along with mine.

First, my mom's (Carol) layouts. This one is called '2 Hearts That Beat As 1.' These are pix of her and my Dadddy when they were tiny tots. Mom completed this challenge for our crop over at Just Scrappin'.

"One Happy Child"
Look at that chunky face!!! That top photo cracks me up each time I look at it! ROFL!! Mom did this one for the weekend crop at Treasured Scrapbooking.

"Photogenic"
I love her use of Storybook on this one. That owl is too cute! One of my faves. I can't remember what challenge she did this one for, but is sure turned out cute!

"Astronomer"
Yall, my nephew is such a hoot. One day, he decided to take my mom's velcro hair rollers, put them together, and make a telescope! This picture cracks me up as well! Mom did this layout for Cherrie's challenge over at Just Scrappin'. She made the star herself. I wish yall could see it in person. It has so much dimension and is so cool.

"Baby Blues"
Mom and I both did a layout like this. It is for a 'picture repetition' challenge over at Treasured scrapbooking. This was the first time either of us have done this and I love it! I will definitely do this one again. The flowers are cutwork and she also incorporated some circle glass tiles.

"Adventurous"
Me and Mom also both did a layout like this next one. It is one of my own sketches. Whoo hoo! But we each changed it up a bit. I just adore the way she did her butterfly.

Ok, and here are my layouts. This first one was for a challenge over at Treasured Scrapbooking. This one was pokin' fun at my Daddy. I call it "Manboobs." LOL. He really doesn't have them, but we always like to pick on him when he is laying by the pool. I was trying to mimic the 'Hooters' sign with my title. I also incorporated some really cute, goofy looking owls. Yall know I love owls!

Close up of the trim...

Aren't these owls too darn cute???!!!!

"Dig In"
I did this layout for the one hour sketch challenge Saturday night at Just Scrappin'.

Look at him! What on earth was he thinking??? LOL
"Love Bug"
Here is my layout for the 'picture repetition' challenge. This has got to be one of my fave pix of Carter. I will be scrapping it again. LOL
We each got 2 of the pix printed in sepia and then one in color. Yall gotta try this technique! Too fun!
"Cheek To Cheek"
Last, this layout is for a challenge on Treasured Scrapbooking. You had to choose from a list of Ella Fitzgerald's song titles. I chose 'Cheek to Cheek.' Whenever Carter is out playing, especially on a warm day, his little cheeks get so red. This layout is not a fave of mine, but I guess it gets another one done. LOL.

I told you we were busy! Ha ha. We had such a ball. I will be staying here for about a month. We already have a crop planned for all day Friday! I can't wait!
Also, I would like to say Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband, Brandon! He is 28 years old today! Happy Birthday Baby! I love you and hope your day is filled with joy!!!
As always, thanks for stopping by. Take care of yourselves and enjoy the rest of your day
Hugs!!!
