Christmas In July

Merry Christmas gals...Giggle! No, not really! But it will be here before we know it! So this week at The Cuttlebug Spot, we are celebrating Christmas In July and creating Christmas themed projects. If you would like to join in and see more Christmas creations, go here:

http://thecuttlebugspot.blogspot.com/

I chose to make this little 3-D Christmas project. I have been wanting to do one of these for some time, but just haven't had time. So I was so glad when Nilda told us we were doing a Christmas challenge. I used the following Cuttlebug folders in this project:
1. D'Vine Swirl
2. Mosaic Texture
2. Swiss Dots
4. Snow

I used the following Cricut carts as well:
1. Christmas Solutions
2. Joys Of The Season
3. Doodlecharms

I used cotton balls, which I stretched out for my snow on the individual platforms. I also added a lot of stickles glitter glue for some shimmer. Here it is:

Here is a view from above so you can see the dimension:

This was a really fun and easy project to make. I can't wait to set it out in my home during the holiday season!
Do come on over to The Cuttlebug Spot and celebrate Christmas in July with us!!! Thanks for stoppin' in today! Happy crafting!

Unscripted Sketch #16

It's Saturday! Finally! The best day of the week! I hope you all are having a great day so far! We have another fun, new sketch for you at Unscripted. We'd love to have ya come over and play along. Here is the link for you:

http://unscriptedsketches.com/

This week there was a little twist to the sketch.....we were to use a picture on a card. I originally thought of putting a picture of people on a card, but then I found this picture of flowers online. I loved the colors and texture of the flowers so much, I had to use it. So I printed it out and used my Cricut (Storybook cartridge) to cut the picture out. I will list the sizes for you if you would like to try to cut out this particular shape on the Cricut. The picture was printed at a 4x6 size. I cut out the shape on 3 3/4". I then cut the mat behind it out at 4". This is the first time I have ever cut out a actual picture with my Cricut. I was kinda nervous at first, but now I can't wait to do it again. LOL. The word 'beautiful' is from Home Decor and I used pink Stickles on it. The printed paper is from DCWV. I also added some velvet trim, doodling, bling, and butterflies (which were cut with my Cuttlebug). I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the bottom of the card. Here it is:

Aren't the flowers in that picture beautiful? I so wish I could have a huge garden filled with flowers that I could just enjoy any time I want. That is one of the biggest drawbacks of living in an apt...you can't plant flowers.

So do come on over to Unscripted Sketches and join us for this fun challenge! We'd love to see what you can do!!!
Thanks for droppin' by my blog! Take care and Happy Scrappin'!!!

Caught A Bug??

Hey yall! How are you today? Good I hope! We are exploring the Doodlecharms and Fabulous Finds cartridge at The Chirper Challenge. If you would like to, hop on over and check out the projects my DT sisters have created. Here is the link for ya:

http://chirperchallenge.blogspot.com/

For this cartridge exploration challenge, I chose to make a card using the Doodlecharms cartridge. I cut the jar out at a 5 1/2" with this really cool paper. I got it at Joann and it really reminded me of the old timey blue Mason jars. I also used Doodlecharms to cut out my ladybugs for 'inside' the jar and the round tag. I added some toile to the top to mimic the mesh you might put on the top of a jar when you have 'caught some bugs' so that they can breath. LOL. I also added some ribbon and butterflies. I thought I would send this out when someone is sick. Here it is:

This was so fun to make!! I hope you will like it! As always, thanks for stopping by my blog! I hope you have a wonderful day!!! Happy Scrappin'!

Cuttlebug Blog Hoppin'

Hey yall! How are you doin' today? Good I hope. This week at The Cuttlebug Spot, we are shaking things up a bit. Instead of posting all of our creations on the blog, we are having a blog hop. Here is the next link in the blog hop for you: (Karen's Blog)

http://craftscrapper.blogspot.com/2009/07/cuttlebug-spot-40.html

This week we were to go into the archives and pick a past challenge to do. I chose to do another shaped card. I used my Cricut Expression to cut my watermelon shaped card. The title is from Cuttin' Up. I used Stickles on my lettering for some bling. I used the Distressed Stripes embossing folder, which I chalked, to mimic the rind of a watermelon. I also used Floral Fantasy on my watermelon and Swiss Dots on my seeds. I also brought in some stitching, toile, ribbon, flowers, and a button. Here is my card:

Up close so you can see the embossing a bit better:

So do go on over and visit my fellow DT Sister's fabulous blogs to see their projects!

Scrappin' With Mom

Hey yall! I hope you are having a great weekend! Me and Mom have been scrappin' away. It has been so much fun! She is my favorite scrappy buddy!!! We both were able to get quite a few challenges done for Treasured Scrapbooking. Here is what I accomplished:

"Be Still My Heart"
This layout is being used for 3 challenges on TS:
-Cristal's Sewing Challenge
-LJ's Ice Cream Challenge
-Ginger's Ruby Red Challenge
I used my sewing machine to stitch on the layout. I also used a needle and thread to gather lace trim to make the 'flowers.' I used Lyrical Letters for the lettering and Accent Essentials for the heart. I also used an EK Success Fleur de Lei border punch. This is Carter and his buddy, Carlee, at the beach.

"Devour"
This layout is for Debbie's 'Red, White, and Blue' challenge. I used Plantin' Schoolbook for the circle and stars. I used some Stickles glitter glue on my stars for some bling. I also incorporated some red trim. I just love this pic of Carter. I laugh each time I see it.

"Mele Kalikimaka"
This layout is for Amanda's Christmas In July Challenge and Jenn's Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Challenge. For Amanda's challenge, we were to create a Christmas layout but it had to have summery colors. For Jenn's challenge, we had to use the color yellow, polka dots, and pix no bigger than 2x2". The ring is from Printing Press and the alphas are from Life's A Beach. Here it is:

"Indulge In Chocolate"
Last, I created this little altered purse for Karen's Chocolate challenge. You had to show your love of chocolate through a layout, card, or altered item. I used Tags, Bags, Boxes, & More for the purse. The ice cream cone is from Doodlecharms. I used my Cuttlebug on my ice cream cone. I also incorporated some ribbon and pink pearls. Here it is:

So that is what I have been up to so far this weekend. If you can, hop on over to my Mom's blog to see her gorgeous creations too! Here is the link for you:
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!!!

Unscripted Sketch #15

Good Morning Saturday! How are yall doin' on this beautiful morning? Good I hope! As you know, Saturdays mean another fun sketch at Unscripted Sketches. We have another great sketch for you guys and would love for you to come out and play with us. Here is the link for you:

http://unscriptedsketches.com/

I had so much fun creating my project for this week. I sat down at my desk with the intentions to do a card and ended up with an altered project! Isn't scrappiness funny? Hee hee. Anywho, I altered a leftover Maya Road Chipboard tin. I had bought this chipboard a while back and thought the tin would be great to recycle. So that is what I did. I used a mixture of toile, ribbon, and twine on the handle. I used my Cuttlebug and the Script folder to emboss the blue cardstock. The patterned papers are by Jenni Bowlin and K & Co. (Amy Butler line). I also added some lace trim and some bling. Here is the front of the tin:

I also decorated the inside. I used the Cricut Cuttin' Up cartridge for my sentiment. I will write my own personal message on the red cardstock when I send this out. I thought I would put some scrappy goodies inside and send it out as a prize, RAK, or to one of my buddies.

The handle up close:

Oooh, and did you notice the new watermark?? One of our awesome designers at Unscripted Sketches, Jeryn, made us all one. Isn't it the cutest? A BIG thanks to Jeryn! You rock sista!
So do jump on over to Unscripted and check out my fellow DT Sisters projects. They are one group of talented ladies I tell ya! You will love it!
As always, thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful rest of the weekend! Take care and Happy Scrappin'!

Treasured Scrapbooking Reveals

Hey yall! How are you today? I'm hoppin' a flight to AL today! Whoo hoo! I can't wait to see my family. I leave out of Baltimore about 11'ish and will stay for one whole week! Yay!!!! But before I leave, I wanted to take a moment to post my second reveals for July on Treasured Scrapbooking. On the 15th of every month, the DT posts their second layout and altered item for the month. So do go on over to the gallery today and check out all the DT's reveals. I promise you will love 'em!

For my altered project this month, I decided to make this little paper bucket tote and fill it with notecards. If you would like the instructions on how to make this darlin' little bag, go here:

http://melstampz.blogspot.com/2008/03/purse-templates-galore-little-handbag.html

This woman has the most awesome templates! They are so easy to follow and make the cutest little projects. Here is my little tote:

I used Stickles on the cherry printed paper for some bling.

Here are the little notecards that go inside:

Now, here is my second layout for the month. It is called "Cheeky Business." This one is of my nephew Carter. He is such a mess and always makes us laugh. Well while home on my last visit, I walk out of the sunroom to find him mountaineering about on the staircase. He had just got his bath and toweled off. But before Mom could dress him.....
All products, with the exception of the cherry printed ribbon (which was used with permission) , came from the July Kits at Treasured Scrapbooking. If you are in the market, Leslie's kits are the BEST!!! They are so much fun to work with!!!!

Thanks for stoppin' by today to visit! I hope your week is going great! I'm off to Alabama, but am taking my laptop with me!!! So I'll still post all the good stuff me and Mom will be up to! Happy Scrappin'!

P.S. Oooh, and I forgot, I've also got a project debuting today for The Chirper Challenge blog. We focus on using our Cricut machines in our projects. So scroll down to the next post and it should be there! Thanks! Hugs to you!

Chirper Challenge #19-Interactive Fun

Hey yall! How are you today? Good I hope! For our challenge #19 at the Chirper Challenge blog, we are having some interactive fun! If you do not know, the Chirper Challenge focuses on using your Cricut cutting machine. We were challenged to create a interactive layout, card, or project. I created this little 'Back 2 School' project for my Mom. I thought it would look cute sitting at her desk when the new school year rolls around. She teaches 5th grade. First, I created the little interactive backpack. This was so fun. If you would like the instructions on the backpack, go here:

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/backpackbox/

I then used my Cricut and the following carts for the rest:
1.Paper Doll Dress Up
2. Doodlecharms
3. Stretch Your Imagination
4. Plantin' Schoolbook
5. Cuttin' Up
I added some Stickles glitter glue, ribbon, and some bling. Here it is:

I used some velcro adhesive dots for the 2 flaps on the backpack. I hid a bookmark for Mom down inside the backpack. Here is a pic so you can see what it looks like opened up.

To show the dimension. Aren't those little backpack straps the cutest!!! I'm tellin' yall, you gotta make this little backpack. I was gigglin' the whole time! Hee hee!
I curled the edges of the sun.

I added some ribbon for a bow in her hair and some bling for little earrings. I also added chalk for blush on her cheeks.

So if you have a interactive project you want to do, this is a great time to show it off. Here is the link to the blog for ya:
Hope to see you there! Thanks for lookin'! Yall enjoy your day!

What's Inside...

Hey yall! This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we are showing what is on the inside of our cards. I have been wanting to make a card like this for some time and this challenge was the perfect opportunity. The sentiment on the front reads "When Life Gives You Lemons." I used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing folder, D'Vine Swirl Embossing folder, and Butterfly die/embossing combo on this one. I cut the card itself out using the Cricut New Arrival cartridge. I also brought in some velvet trim, sheer ribbon, and bling. Here is the front of my card:

And the inside: ('make lemonade')....LOL. That is a real packet of Kool Aid Lemonade mix. So the recipient can make lemonade when they receive the card.

So come on over to The Cuttlebug Spot and show us what is on the inside of your lovely cards!!!
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your week and happy scrappin'! Hugs!
