My Garden Cottage

Happy Monday Everyone! I hope you are having a fabulous day! I have been working at my scrappy desk today and wanted to share my project with y'all. I am playing along in a little challenge at a new forum. It is a forum headed up by Marivic...you may remember her from my post a few days ago. She created the gorgeous handmade tags that I used on a card and an altered frame. HERE is the link to the forum if you are interested. The specs of the 'June Purple Garden' challenge are:
1. Use the colors purple and green
2. Use flowers on your project
3. Project may be layout, card, altered, etc.
4. There are also some pix on the forum that you can use to see the colors you may use in the challenge. I used those pictures to help me pick out my patterned papers.

Purple is not a favorite color of mine. I always seen to have trouble working with it. But I decided to jump feet first into this challenge and give it a go. For my project, I have created a little gift box that is in the shape of a little cottage. I cut this box out using my Cricut, Sure Cuts A Lot Software, and the 'Peony Cottage' SVG set that I purchased at SVGCuts.com. If you would like to check out this set of files, go HERE. Now, I have to be honest, this was not the easiest thing I've ever cut out and put together. I had a lot of trouble getting it put together right. As a matter of fact, I think I have done a few things wrong and had to cover up a few boo boo's. LOL. But I am definitely going to give this a try again...maybe a Halloween or Gingerbread house. All in all though, I was pleased with my results. I am going to display this in my house for a bit. The 'roof' of the house comes off so that you can add things to the inside and make this into a gift box if you would like.

"Garden Cottage" Gift Box

Cardstock: The Paper Studio, Core'dinations, The Paper Company
Patterned Paper: Die Cuts With A View
Rhinestones, Pearls: Queen & Co
Brads: The Paper Studio
Ink: ColorBox (Clearsnap)
Glitter Glue: Stickles (Ranger Industries)
Lace: Offray
Trim (along bottom of cottage): source unknown (picked this up at a discount store)
Electronic Cutter: Cricut Expression (Provo Craft)

SVG's: SVGCuts.com

Here is my cottage...
There are flowers in my patterned paper, but I also included the flowers that came with this set of svg's.
I wanted extra dimension on my roof so I used strips of lace for my 'shingles.'
If you would like to play along with us in this challenge, HERE is the direct link for that. Also, check out the prize up for grabs! Some yummy scrappy goodies if you ask me!!!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Happy Scrappin'!

Sew Be It

Hey y'all! How are ya doing? I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I didn't do too much. My parents had to leave going home on Saturday and I pretty much vegged all day Saturday and Sunday. I did do a bit of house cleaning and the laundry, but that was pretty much it. However, I did muster the energy to make it to my scrappy desk this evening for a bit. LOL. So I wanted to share what I accomplished with you guys. Here we go...

I don't know about y'all, but I love to create my own decor' to go into my scrappy studio. I just love that extra personal touch it gives to my space. Well I was looking at my sewing desk the other day and noticed how lonely it looked. So I decided to alter up a frame to add a bit of pizazz to the space. I purchased a frame at Big Lots for...drum roll please....$6!!! It's very ornate and fancy schmancy! I love buying frames at Big Lots! Cheap, cheap, cheap let me tell ya! Since my space is decorated in hot pink and lime green, I decided to go with a pink frame.

"Sew Be It"
Supplies Used
Patterned Paper: Die Cuts With a View, Jillibean Soup
Alphabet Stickers: Momenta
Twine: Divine Twine
Pearls: Queen & Co
Ribbon Roll Embellishment: Jolee's (EK Success)
Electronic Cutting Machine: Cricut (Provo Craft)
Software: Sure Cuts A Lot (Craft Edge)
SVG's: SVGCuts.com, Sure Cuts A Lot (Craft Edge)
This flower was created using my Cricut, SCAL software, and SVG's from svgcuts.com. The flower/leaves are from a set called "Lunch With Mom." If you are interested in seeing this set, HERE is the link. This is such a cute SVG set! I just love it! I added a little embellishment that looks like a ribbon spool to the inside of the flower. It is from Jolee's.
Here is a view so you can see the dimension on the flower. I used a combination of 450 Quick Dry, Liquid Scrap Dots, and Zap Dots on this flower.
I LOVE these alpha's from Momenta! I picked them up at Big Lots as well. Now not only are they bling and beautiful, but they provide great dimension. The butterflies were cut out using my SCAL also. They are included with the SCAL software with the 'spring' svg set. I also added some twine, which I attached with Liquid Scrap Dots.
That's it for me this evening! I'm off to veg some more and watch re-runs of Roseanne. I love that show! I'll probably be back at my scrappy desk tomorrow. I'll be sure to post if I come up with anything. I hope all of you have a fabulous week! Happy Scrappin' to you and thanks for visiting!!!

Guest Design Team Work For 'Berry 71 Bleu'

Hey everyone! How are you doing today? I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful week! I am having a ball this week because my parents are here in PA visiting!!! We have had so much fun! I love when they come to visit! We laugh a lot! I think we are off to the Civil War Museum in Harrisburg today. But before we get going, I wanted to hop online for a few minutes and do a little blog post.

I have to introduce you all to a fabulous blog! It's called 'Berry 71 Bleu' and is home to one talented scrapbooker named Marivic. She makes the most GORGEOUS tags you have ever seen! I mean, drop dead gorgeous! If you would like to check out her blog go HERE. It is really awesome! I hope you'll drop in and take a peek!
Now, I am so excited today because I have the honor of being on the June Guest Design Team at Marivic's blog! She sent me 2 of the most beautiful tags to work with. Let me tell you guys, I just stared in awe when the mailman dropped these at my door. Her tags are so ornate and include some adorable embellishments!
Now, on to my projects. First up, I created an altered frame for my wonderful husband, Brandon. This frame was inspired by a older tune that we like to sing. And this is a special little saying we will tell one another. So I wanted to highlight our little love song into a frame to display in our bedroom.

"Sugarpie, Honeybunch, You Know That I Love You"

Supplies Used
Tag: handmade by Berry71Bleu
Patterned Paper: Graphic 45
Alphabet Stickers: Sassafras, American Crafts, BasicGrey, Fancy Pants Designs, Glitz Design
Bling: The Paper Studio
Lace, Gold Buttons, Flowers: included in kit from Berry71Bleu

Marivic's tag on this frame is located in the lower left hand corner. It is a cupcake themed frame and looks good enough to eat!
Here's an up close of the tag. If you'd like to see even more detail, click on the pic to make it bigger.
What luscious flowers! I adore these!
For my second project, I decided to highlight another of Marivic's tags on my favorite style of card...an easel card. Here is what I came up with:

"U R Sublime"

Supplies Used
Cardstock: The Paper Studio
Patterned Paper: Graphic 45, Die Cuts With A View
Tag: handmade by Berry71Bleu
Bling: The Paper Studio
Alphabet Stickers: American Crafts
Chipboard: BasicGrey
Corner Punch: EK Success
Ink: ColorBox (Clearsnap)
Electronic Cutter, Cartridge: Cricut (Provo Craft), Home Decor'
Software: Cricut Gypsy (Provo Craft)

I just love the tag used on this card!!!
 The word 'sublime' is chipboard.
The leaf flourish is also chipboard.
Check out the dimension on Marivic's tags! Y'all know I love me some dimension!!!
If you are interested in purchasing some of the tags from Berry71Bleu, HERE is a link to her Etsy shop! She has some beautiful tags at her Etsy shop and the prices are very reasonable!

That will wrap her up for me today. I'm off to enjoy the day with my family! Y'all enjoy your weekend! Happy Scrappin' to ya!

A 'Thank You' Card

Hey y'all! I hope you are having a fabulous day so far! I sat down this morning in my scrappy studio and created a card that I'd like to share with you today. I created this card to send to my MIL (mother in law). As you may know, we just got back from Alabama visiting family. Well, while we were there, my wonderful MIL and I went to tan almost every day. It was so nice of her to buy my tan package and I had a ball hanging out with her. So I wanted to create a card to let her know how thankful I am. I tell you guys, I am so blessed to have one of the best MIL's on the planet! She is just such a wonderful lady and I think of her as a second mom!

"Thank You" Card
Supplies Used
Cardstock: The Paper Studio, Core'dinations, Bazzill Basics Paper
Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee
Chipboard Alphabet Stickers: BasicGrey
Twine: Divine Twine
Pearls: Queen & Co
Rub On's: Cosmo Cricket, Kaisercraft
Glitter Glue: Stickles (Ranger), Eucalyptus
Embossing Machine: Cuttlebug (Provo Craft)
Embossing Plate: Sizzix (Ellison)
Electronic Cutter: Cricut (Provo Craft)
Electronic Software: Sure Cuts A Lot (Craft Edge)
SVG's: My Scrap Chick (Beachy Kids, 30 Boxes & More)

This card base was cut from cardstock using my Cricut and the 'Square Scallop' card from My Scrap Chick. The card file came along with the '30 Boxes & More' set of svg files that I purchased. If you would like to see those, go HERE. I then layered patterned papers from Pink Paislee and cardstock. The top piece of white cardstock is from the 'Gemstones' Core'dinations collection. I embossed this sheet of cardstock with my Cuttlebug. I created the banner with a svg file that I made myself. I adhered it with my Liquid Scrap Dots. I then added some chipboard alpha's, glitter glue, and twine. I then decided I wanted to create a patterned background, so I used my SCAL to cut out random sized circles for a polka dot background. Here is the front:
For the inside of the card, I wanted to use the oh so cute 'Wendy & Wade/Beachy Kids' SVG files from My Scrap Chick. I just adore these and have been wanting to cut out little Wendy laying on the beach towel for months. So that is what I did for the inside of the card. I made her little bikini and towel match the card. I used some rub-on's from Cosmo Cricket to jazz up the bottle of lotion that is laying on the bottom of the towel a tad. For the sentiment on the inside, that too is a rub on. It's from Kaisercraft. Now isn't little Wendy the cutest?!!! I giggle each time I see her! (If you are interested, HERE is the link to this set of SVG files. You'll have to scroll down a ways to see it.)
Isn't she adorable all spread out on her towel catching some sun? It makes me want to go and lay out for the day!
I popped up the banner pieces for some added dimension.
Finished off the back of the card with my custom stamp.
Thanks for droppin' by my blog today! Have a wonderful evening!
Happy Scrappin'!!!

Simple & Quick Cards

Hey y'all! Happy Friday!!! TGIF! The weekend is finally here! I plan on staying home and getting some work done. After returning from our visit in Alabama, I had so much stuff to put away. I finally got everything back in order yesterday. Now I need to organize one little corner of my scrappy studio and then get to work. I have a scrappy to do list that is a mile long! But I am ready to get started! I missed my desk and my space while I was away. So how about you? Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?!!!

Today I wanted to hop online right quick and blog a little. I made these 2 cards about a month ago and forgot to share them. I noticed them in my pictures folder yesterday while I was cleaning up my computer and decided I better share them before I forget again! LOL. These were both fairly simple and quick to make. First up...

"Thanks"

Supplies Used
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, The Paper Studio
Patterned Paper: Die Cuts With A View
Rhinestones: Queen & Co
Brads: The Paper Studio
Twine: Divine Twine
Alphabet Stickers: American Crafts
Embossing Machine, Folder: Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Victoria

For this card, I played with paper from the new DCWV 'Lemon Flower' stack. The stack has all yellows, greens, blacks, and a bit of silver thrown into the mix. It is different and I really loved all of the glittered papers in there. I decided to make a background pattern with my twine and used brads to lace the twine around creating the pattern. Of course, all this dimension made my alphabet letters hard to adhere. BUT, no fear because Helmar is here!!! Tee Hee! I used 450 on the back of my alpha's to make sure they would be stuck like glue! You'll have to excuse my attempt at humor today...hahaha! :) Here is this one:
"Happy Birthday"

Supplies Used
Cardstock: The Paper Studio
Patterned Paper: Die Cuts With A View
Buttons: Jenni Bowlin Studio
Lace: JoAnn
Stickers: Elle's Studio
Corner Punch: EK Success
Embossing Machine, Folder: Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Argyle

This card took about 15 minutes to pull together, very simple. I used my Liquid Scrap Dots to adhere those fabulous buttons from JBS, which are my favorite thing on this card. The rest I could take or leave. LOL. Isn't that awful not to be crazy about your own art, but for some reason I just could not get this card to look like I had in my mind. I like the papers, but maybe I should of put them together differently. Who knows? It was just an off day I reckon'. But I figure we can't be in love with everything we create, right? Or at least that is how I feel. I hope I'm not the only one. But I thought I'd share it anyways. :)

That is all for me today! I'm off to do a little bit of cleaning and then relax with the hubby while he is home. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Take care!
Happy Scrappin'!!!

Another Go At The 'Tri Fold' Card...

Hey y'all! Happy Thursday to you! I hope you all are having a wonderful week! I wanted to hop online right quick and blog. I made this card a few days ago, but I've been such a busy bee I haven't had time to post it. I took another crack at the 'tri fold card' tutorial from this past week at "She's A Sassylady." These cards are so fun! I was in a Halloween type mood for some odd reason, so I decided to tinker with the "Mini Monsters" cartridge. Here is what I came up with...

"Spooky" Tri Fold Card
Supplies Used
Cardstock: Core'dinations, The Paper Studio, Bazzill Basics Paper, Colorbok
Patterned Paper: Die Cuts With A View
Pearls: Queen & Co., The Paper Studio
Glitter Glue: Stickles (Ranger Industries)
Electronic Cutter: Cricut (Provo Craft)
Cartridges: Mini Monsters, Plantin' Schoolbook, Paper Doll Dress Up (Provo Craft)
Electronic Cutter Software: Gypsy (Provo Craft)
 Left Side Opens First...
Then my right side opens to reveal the haunted house. The block on the right is where I will write my note/sentiment.
 Up close of the front...
I popped up a few of the pumpkins with Zap Dots.
That's all for me today. I'm off to head over to the Shoals with my Mom. She has a hair appointment and we thought we'd swing in JoAnn and Hobby Lobby! Yippie!
Enjoy your evening! Thanks for visiting my blog!

Happy Monday All! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! I spent my weekend enjoying time with my family and scrapbooking a tad. It was a wonderful weekend, but went by way too fast. But they always do, don't they? LOL. I have a new post going up at the "She's A Sassylady" blog today and wanted to share my project with you here as well. When I sat down to create, I was not sure what to do. I was having a major creative block. So I decided to go to Splitcoast Stampers and look on the resources page. There I found a awesome tutorial for a free standing pop up card. I decided I would give it a try. If you would like to see the tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers, go HERE.

I'm Giving 'Tri-Fold' Cards a Try!!!

Happy Saturday All! I am up bright and early today. It's a gorgeous day outside and I am loving it! I love to wake up to the beautiful sun shining in my window! As you know, my husband and I are currently in Alabama visiting family. Well last night, my little nephew spent the night with us. He and Brandon slept in the room adjacent to mine. They were so cute laying there all peaceful and sleeping this morning. I just had to take a few pix. It was so sweet. But after I did that and woke up I realized that today is Saturday and that means another wonderful tutorial from Sheila over at "She's A Sassylady!!!" Today, Sheila is sharing with us how to make a tri-fold card! Believe me, these are so much fun!!! If you'd like to see the video's and give these a try, go HERE for the direct link.

Here is my first try on the card design. I have already designed another one of these on my Gypsy and am hoping to make that soon. Maybe today, so stay tuned! :)

"Give A Hoot" Tri-Fold Card
Supplies Used
Cardstock: The Paper Studio
Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Die Cuts With A View
Ribbon: Ribbon FX (Hobby Lobby)
Glitter Glue: Stickles (Ranger Industries), Crystal
Pearls: Queen & Co.
Electronic Cutter: Cricut (Provo Craft)
Cartridges: Plantin' Schoolbook, Hoot N' Holler
Software: Gypsy (Provo Craft)
As you can see, my card opens on the left hand side first. Once open, it reveals an owl.
Then you open up the right side and it reveals a house. I added a block near the bottom in order to have a place to write my sentiment, note, etc.
The back of the card is the back of the house. I thought about adding windows and doors, but I did not. Maybe next time. I just added my stamp to finish off the card.
Up close of the front of the card. I used patterned paper from 'The Green Stack' for my branch, leaves. I love the bark looking paper in that stack, so natural. I used it on the branch. I tied a bow on the left hand side and attached that with my Liquid Scrap Dots. I also added a bit of glitter glue to the word 'give' and to the 'eyes' of the owl.
To show a bit of the dimension...
Again, I hope you'll hop on over to "She's A Sassylady" and play along with us this week! I can't wait to see all the takes on this type of card!!!
As always, thanks for visiting my blog! I hope you all have a marvelous weekend! Enjoy time with your friends and families! And Happy Scrappin' to ya!

A Few New Things...

Hi Y'all! Happy Tuesday to you! I hope you are having a grand week so far! The hubby and I decided on a whim to come down to see our families in Alabama for a bit, so I am at home visiting. But it's all good because my Mom is a scrapper too. I brought a few of my own supplies and she let's me have access to her scrappy stash as well, so it is so much fun! We scrapped together for several hours last night and had a ball! We hope to ask my grandmother to come and scrap with us one day while I'm home. The three of us haven't scrapped in a long time and I thought it would be a blast to get together. So I am very excited about that!

Last night, I was able to finish 1 layout and 2 cards. Then I woke up bright and early this morning and got to work again. Sadly, Mom had to work. She teaches 5th grade and I know she is counting down the days 'til summer. But it was nice to scrap in her room. She has such a nice space. So I wanted to share all that I finished with you today. Here is what I accomplished...

First up, another layout for the album I'm working on for Mrs. Kiel. I created the following layouts focusing on Audrey's first bath at home. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, she is just such a cutie! I love how she even has a pink bow in her hair while she gets her first bath! So sweet!! As you can see in the pix, Mom gets help from big sister too!

Cardstock: The Paper Studio, Die Cuts With A View, Core'dinations
Patterned Paper: Sassafras, The Paper Studio
Alphabet Stickers: Making Memories
Die Cuts (journaling spots, photo corners, floral border): Carolyn Gavin (Hobby Lobby)

Glitter Glue: Stickles (Ranger Industries), Eucalyptus
Punch: Martha Stewart Crafts
Circle Cutter: Creative Memories

(click on any of the pictures to make them bigger if you'd like to see more detail)
These 2 little circles are where Mrs. Kiel can journal her thoughts.
I added some pearls/rhinestones to the centers of the flowers on this border strip.
As you can see, I have a new toy!!! Tee Hee! I purchased one of the Martha Stewart Large "Punch Around The Page" sets. I was quite shocked when I received this punch set in the mail. They are huge! And although I love them and would recommend them, if you have trouble applying pressure to punch down, these might not be for you. I had a  little trouble applying pressure to punch with these and I was using medium weight paper. I told Mom that I thought some people might have trouble with these, especially if they have arthritis or other hand/wrist problems. Mom said I should work as a tester for Martha Stewart...I said 'sign me up!' LOL

HERE is a link if you'd like to see this punch set. I purchased mine on Ebay for about $20.

I cut these butterflies out from the patterned paper and used them as embellishments.

Next, I have a couple cards to share with you. Mom said she needs lots of birthday cards for her card box, so I tried to create a few for her. These are super simple and I had them both done in under 30 minutes. I hope she'll like them.
