Celebrate Your Country

Hey yall! This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we are celebrating our country. I did 2 projects for this week. I wanted to spruce up one of our 'plants' in the apartment for the fourth. We don't do live plants, but there is no reason you can't spruce up a fake plant, right? LOL. So I made some pinwheels, which I attached to clothespins to attach to my plant. Voila! Instant decoration. I used the Swiss Dots and Distressed Stripes Embossing folders on my pinwheels. These were really so easy and fun to make. I haven't done this since I was in grade school. Next, I made a card to sit next to it. I used the Houndstooth Embossing folder and the Sizzix Distressed Texture Plate. I also incorporated some ribbon, stitching, a patriotic sticker, and the use of the Holiday Stars border punch by Martha Stewart. Here are my projects:

I was kind of discouraged at first because my stitching ended up a little uneven. But then I remembered our trip to the Smithsonian and viewing the first United States flag. I decided to leave it since the hand stitched flag isn't perfect either. I will never forget the trip to the Smithsonian. The pride I felt to be an American as I learned more about our history was something I will always remember.

If you would like instructions on how to do these pinwheels, go here:

So do come on over to The Cuttlebug Spot and join us this week to celebrate your country!!!

http://treasuredscrapbooking.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=63&products_id=4072

I used the Sizzix Weave Texture Plate and the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder on this one. The ribbons in the kit are just fabulous!! I used some for my 'grass.' I used a leftover popsicle stick from a pack of rub-ons for my tree's 'trunk.'

As always, thanks for stoppin' in! Do come on over to Unscripted Sketches and play with us!! We'd love to have ya! Take care!

Summertime Croppin' & A Little RAK

Hey yall!! How are you today? Good I hope!!! Before I do anything today, I wanted to tell all of you how much I appreciate all of you coming by my blog! It means the world to me! Well, the other day, I hit 100 followers on my blog! I was just so amazed! When I started blogging, I never imagined how many kind people I would meet!!! I am just so appreciative! So, for all of you, I wanted to host a RAK (random act of kindness). So if you will comment on this post, I will put your name into a random drawing for a scrappy package from me filled with all sorts of goodies. I will leave this RAK open until the end of the month!! Also, when I announce the winner, I will post a picture of all the goodies!!!! I will announce the winner on the 1st! So check back to see if it is you!!! Thanks yall!!!!!

I wanted to share with you the layouts I did finish up during the crop. I did not get much at all done. My hand/wrist has been bothering me for 3 days now. The past two days, I can't open it all the way or close it. So scrapping has been pretty much out of the question. What scrappin I did do, Brandon had to help me toward the end. I couldn't even push down the trimmer blade and slide it. I had to hold the paper and Brandon did the trimming. It was pitiful I tell ya! So anywho, I've been resting my hand as much as I can these past few days. I haven't even been on the computer much. I miss all the scrappy boards and stuff. So I hope I will be ready to go again soon!! Here are the two layouts that I did finish up.

"Natural Beauty"
This layout is of my good friend, Tara's, little girl Olivia. She is just such a little cutie!!! I used Home Accents for the petals. I also added some stitching, ribbon, a flower, a button, and a few other embellishments.

"Ode To Yellowbox"
This layout is called "Ode To Yellowbox." This one is for Laura Jean's Challenge on TS. We were to scrap something we love about summer, but it couldn't be people. I knew I had to scrap my Yellowbox shoes. I used Plantin' Schoolbook for the circles and Home Accents for the flourish. The sun, which I added the exploding technique to, was cut from Doodlecharms. I also added in some stitching and ribbon. Here is this one:

Also, I was given 2 blog awards. It is actually the same award, just from 2 different people. Check out there beautiful blogs:

and

Here is the award:

Thank you both so much for thinking of me!!!

Also, I am to send this on to others. I am gonna change it up a bit. I have so many regulars who are sooo kind to leave me their nice comments. You all know who you are. So if you see this, please know that this award is for you. Put it up on your blog if you want! I just want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart!!!! You are just wonderful!!

Thanks, as always, for stoppin' by! Take care of yourselves!!!

School's Out For The Summer

Hello my fellow scrappy sisters! It's Monday and that means another fun challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot. This week we were asked to create a card in honor of school being out for the summer/beginning of summer. If you would like to join in on this fun challenge, please visit:

http://thecuttlebugspot.blogspot.com/

We'd love to see what your Cuttlebug can do!! So come on over girls!

Here is the card that I created for this week. I cut the card out using the Cricut New Arrival cartridge. I used my Cricut Doodlecharms cartridge to cut out the sun and watermelon border. I embossed the sun with the D'Vine Swirl folder and then added Yellow Stickles to the top of my embossing. I embossed the green portion or 'rind' of my watermelon with the Distressed Stripes folder. I then cut the lettering out using my Cuttlekids Alpha Dies in my Cuttlebug. I embossed these with the Swiss Dots folder. I also added some ribbon and stitching on this one.

As always, I appreciate you stopping by my blog! Have a wonderful week! Happy Scrappin'!

Unscripted Sketch #11

Mornin' Yall! I hope you are enjoying a great Saturday morning!!! It is time for another fun sketch challenge at Unscripted Sketches. Come on over and join us for this fun challenge! I promise, you will have so much fun with the sketch!!!!

http://unscriptedsketches.com/

This week I created a layout of some of my best scrappy gf's. We all met up this past April in Gatlinburg, TN for a scrappy retreat. We had a ball! I used some sewing themed paper I bought at a scrappy store while we were there. I just adore this paper! It looks like an old timey sewing pattern on the front and is pink/white polka dotted on the back. Too cute!!! I added some twine because it reminded me of the way they used to package up your fabric back in the day. I used copper eyelets to thread my twine through. I used my Cricut Home Accents cartridge for the flourish. The lettering are felt Thickers. I used a tab punch for my tabs. I am so glad this week's sketch included tabs. I have had that tab punch forever and never seem to use it. Also, I included some pink stitching around the edge. Here it is:

As always, thanks for stopping by! Also, remember we have a crop going on at Treasured Scrapbooking this weekend. You can see the top post under my header for more info on that if you would like to join in on the fun! We'd love to have ya! Take care and enjoy your weekend! Hugs!

Little Angler

Hey yall! How are you doing this evening? I am good. I just got back from going out with the hubby. He took me to Joann's AGAIN! LOL. I had to hit them up for some more paper while it was on sale AND guess what else he let me get? A new Fiskars craft mat! I have been wanting one forever! They have them 50% off this week girls! So if you are in the market...get to Joann! I got a 18" x 24" one for.....drumroll please......$11!!! So in all, I got the mat and 72 sheets of solid cardstock for about $24. You can't beat those prices! LOL. Anyways, I wanted to share with yall this layout. I am hosting a 'Lazy Days Of Summer' Challenge for our crop at Treasured Scrapbooking. All you have to do is scrap about something you or a loved one like to do during summer vacay. That's it. It can be swimming, fishing, taking a vacation, anything! So if you would like to, come on over to Treasured Scrapbooking and play!!! I am giving away a scrappy prize for this challenge to one randomly selected winner! So give it a go girls!!!

This layout is of Carter doing one of his fave summer activities...fishing. I used the New Arrival cartridge for the word 'little.' I also tried a new ribbon technique I've been tossing around in my head for some time now. I think I like it. LOL. I also used some ribbon for some 'fishies.' I did not want them to be too cutesy since he is a boy. Here it is:

Thanks for lookin'! I'm off to crop! I hope yall have a fabulous weekend! Take care!!!!

My Mothers Eyes

Hey yall! It's late, but I just finished up a layout and I wanted to share. This layout is called 'My Mothers Eyes." There is a poem, which I printed out on scrappy paper, that reads:

I've gone through life never giving
much thought to how I was created.
"You do not look like your parents",
was a quote too many times stated.
Yet I arose this morning and began my day
staring into my looking glass,
an old familiar feeling of recognition stared back,
but this time it did not pass.
I bent even closer as tears ran down,
then smiled as I realized,
there in my mirror, gazing back at me,
I saw my mother's eyes.
The same warm hue, that cried for me
whenever I was in pain,
has been given to me, by God,
a gift, forever to remain.
When sweet Jesus calls her home,
and her soul to heaven will rise,
She will leave one thing bound to this earth......
For I have my mother's eyes.

I just cried the moment I read this poem and I knew I had to scrap it. I am just like my Mom and I want her to know that she is loved. She is a remarkable woman and mother. She is my very best friend and I wish I could be with her every day! I love you Mom!!!

This layout is for a challenge on Treasured Scrapbooking where you were to use roses in your layout. I found this really pretty rose printed paper, by Daisy D's, when I went to the scrappy store a few weeks ago. I used the Home Accents cartridge for my flourishes and Stone Script for my title. I also did some cutwork for my rose corner. I added some satin ribbon and some Stickles to my lettering. I also used Tim Holtz distress ink in Faded Jeans and Brick Red for distressing. Here it is:

Thanks for looking!!

Oh, and one more thing I just have to share with yall! Brandon gave me the surprise of my life today! Ever since I was a little girl, I have always wanted a Super Nintendo. I know it's really old school, but I've always wanted one of my own. I am a huge Mario fan. Well, today, he announced that he bought one for me on Ebay. Got a great deal too! So in about a week, if I go MIA, it's because I am taking a stroll down memory lane! I can't wait!!!!
Yall have a great Thursday! Hugs!

A Hopeless Romantic

Hey Yall! Well, it is a wet Wednesday here in PA. It just never seems to quit raining here. It is driving me bonkers! LOL. Anyways, I spent all day yesterday scrappin', but it was all for DT work and challenges for the upcoming crops, so I can't share just yet. I hope to scrap some more today for me and I will share it as soon as I take some pix. But I wanted to share with yall what I did the other night. Brandon does so much for me and for us that I like to give back. So the other night, I decided to make a romantic dinner for two. I cooked his favorites: Potroast with veggies, Cheddar Bay Biscuits, and a Strawberry Cake for dessert. Here are the pix:

We had such a good time just talking. We plan on doing this again soon.
I hope you are having a great Wednesday! Take care and thanks for stoppin' in! Hugs!

A 'Revealin' Monday

Hey yall! How are you on this Monday morning? Good I hope! Today is the 15th, so that means reveal time again for Treasured Scrapbooking. I have had these first 2 project done for a while, but had to wait to reveal. We are to reveal layout #2 and our altered projects today. I was assigned to kit #1 this month. I just have loved this kit. It was so much fun to work with. The ribbons are so yummy!!! I would highly recommend this kit if you are in the market. I have made several layouts and an altered project and I still have goodies left over!! Love it! First, for my altered project, I created a paper topiary. This was really so easy to do and so fun. I used my Cricut to cut out the circles needed for the topiary. Then I gathered various items from around the house (urn, moss, wooden dowel, foam, and hot glue) to assemble it. So it was very cost efficient. Here is the topiary:

If you would like the instructions on how to make this topiary, go here:
Next, here is my second layout for the month. This is Carter. Even at 3 years old, I can already tell what a heartbreaker he will be. LOL. I used the Cricut Storybook cart for the bracket looking shape. I used my sewing machine on this one too for some stitching. Here it is:

If you can, do come on over to Treasured Scrapbooking today to see the rest of the DT's fabulous debuts!!! Awesome stuff!
I also wanted to share 2 new layouts with you. First, this week at The Cuttlebug Spot, we are celebrating our fathers. I created this layout in honor of my Daddy. I used the Swiss Dots and Script embossing folders. I cut the heart with the Cricut Wedding Solutions Cartridge. All papers are by Cosmo Cricket. I also included some cherry printed ribbon and stitching. The poem, which is printed on vellum, is one that I found online. This layout is also doing some double duty. I am using it for the 'Superman' challenge and 'layout with no pic' challenge on Treasured Scrapbooking. Here it is:

If you would like to join in on this fun challenge, visit:

Next, it's time for another fun challenge at the Chirper Challenge blog. We were asked to follow a given sketch (which was designed by Beth on Treasured Scrapbooking). Also, we were to use black cardstock as our base and use only bright solids, no patterned paper. We were to doodle in either black or white. I have to admit, this one was a toughie for me! No patterned paper is hard!!!! I did squeeze in some patterned ribbon though. I used the following Cricut carts: Cuttin' Up, Home Accents, and Home Decor. I also incorporated some stitching, K & Co. embellishment, Stickles glitter glue, and ribbon. Here is the layout:

Do come on over and show us what your Cricut can do for this fun challenge:

Well, that is all for me today. The Treasured Scrapbooking newsletter should be out any day now and when it is, I will post the projects I made for it as well. So do come on back if you can!!! I hope all of you have a wonderful week! Take care and as always, I appreciate you stopping by! Hugs!
