Survivor/Page Maps Blog Contest

Hey everyone! I did this following layout for a challenge on the PageMaps blog for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The challenge was to use a sketch and sketch something meaningful to you. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to honor my grandmother and her battle with breast cancer. My grandmother is a breast cancer survivor and one amazing woman! I thank the Lord every day that she and my grandfather are here for me anytime I need them. I love them both very, very much and miss them terribly since I moved away. This photo was taken shortly after they married. It is a vintage photograph that I borrowed from her and copied. I just love the pic. They were and still are such a cute couple! I chose "Survivor" for my title, which I placed on recycled puzzle pieces. I cut most of the flowers with the cricut using left over paper and adhered them with various brads. The remaining are various Prima flowers. I also chose to do a pink ribbon which is the symbol for Breast Cancer Awareness. I placed it on the circle which I ran through the Cuttlebug using the D'Vine Swirl Embossing Folder. The journaling under the title reads: "My grandmother, Martha Mansell, a breast cancer survivor. Then I found a poem on the internet and printed it onto vellum. The poem reads "Dear Lord, You've done so much for me. Thank you with all my soul. But, I've something to ask of thee. Needing Your grand control. I've waged this battle and I've won. Yet, others battle still. For some, their journey's just begun. Please guide each in Your will. I've walked this road, I've felt each bump. I've conquered Your test. I've grown much wiser, since the lump located in my breast. I see the world much differently. I pray others will, too. So many fight audaciously. Lord, help to see them through. Dear Lord, I ask with all my heart, please touch these special lives. Bless them with courage from the start. Bring hope into their eyes. Let their hope shine a hallowed light that burns forevermore to honor their spirited fight and our dreams for a cure." -Jill Eisnagle- This was such a fun challenge for me and I am so glad I participated. Big Wheels Keep On Turnin'

Happy Saturday all! I've been watchin football today. Roll Tide! Not the prettiest win, but still a win. But anyways, I just finished up the monthly sketch challenge for Just Scrappin'. Cristal posted the following sketch and we were to do a LO using it as a guide:



And here is my interpretation of the sketch. This is Carter riding his little fourwheeler. Like most of the people in our family, he's already big into four wheeling. As a matter of fact, he has already claimed one of daddy's Honda's as his! LOL. He loves to ride. I think I am about the only family member who doesn't really get into the four wheeling thing. I'm so girly girl and hate getting caked in mud from head to toe! LOL. But I do enjoy the parades with the 4 wheeling club. So that will be my activity! Hee hee. Not too much to this LO, it's pretty simple. I pulled it together in about 30 min. I had a template for the banner, so I just traced and cut it out. I cut the lettering with the Cricut storybook cartridge. Then for my embellishment, I had these cute little tag looking stickers. I've had them for a long time, and so glad I finally go to use them. They remind me of a tag you would see on one of Carter's little shirts. But anyways, thanks for looking. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Cuttlebug Challenges Week #3

This week's Cuttlebug Challenge was to make an altered item using your Cuttlebug Embossing Folders. I chose to make this altered coaster container. I picked up these large sized coasters at Outback Steakhouse. I love these because they are bigger and can make a taller box. So I thought it would be great for scissors. I ran hot pink and green sheets of cardstock through my cuttlebug using the D'Vine Swirl Embossing Folder. I then used a glue stick to adhere them to the coasters. I used my Crop-A-Dile to make the necessary holes and set the eyelets into place. I used cream ribbon to string the container together. I then used my hot glue gun to add Prima flowers and lace trim. Next, I adhered the butterflies which were cut/embossed with the Cuttlebug Butterfly Die/Embossing Folder. This was so easy to do and made a perfect place for my scissors. Thanks for looking! You Want Mayonaise On It?

I know, I know, yall think I'm nuts right? Well there is a story behind that title? Everytime you are messin' with Carter, he will stick his cute little fist up in the air, shake it at you , and say "You Want Mayonaise On It?" LOL! Which means, "Do you want a knuckle sammich?" That child cracks me up! Anyways, I did this LO for a challenge on Just Scrappin'. The challenge was to use orange paper and 2 other patterned papers. This LO is of Carter's first black eye. He was playing and had a little accident. Thus the black eye. Poor thing! But boys will be boys and these things happen. I chose the title "knuckle sammich" cause that is what we say in the South! Hee hee. I used some blue rain drops to make my own arrow pointing to his boo. I used some tabs for embellishment too. Then the pocket on the bottom holds the journaling to tell the story of the black eye. I also made my own 'boo boo' embellishment by cutting the band aids from a sheet of paper I received in a swap at DIY. Thanks for looking! Hope you all are having a fab day! Back To Scrappin'

Happy Thursday all! Well, I've been doing swaps and other various things here lately and have really been missing just scrapping for me. I also miss doin the various challenges I like to participate in, so I decided to get back to that today. I love the swaps, but it's nice to get back to scrappin' layouts and stuff. I just finished up this layout for a challenge on Just Scrappin'. This challenge was to make the paper work for you. You were supposed to take a sheet of paper and use things on it as embellishment on a layout. So I chose 2 sheets of paper. The first 2 pix are sample of the paper that I cut to make my embellishment for my layout. This layout is called "Give Thanks." Of course, it's of my cute little nephew, Carter. I cut out the pumpkin/corn embellishment and decorative strip of marquee looking stuff for the embellishment. I mounted the photo on a piece of paper that I tore out of an old dictionary and then distressed the edges. I really love that look. It almost looks like the paper has been burnt or something. I also distressed around my paper embellishents and around the outside of the layout. I used my edge distressor on the outside of the layout to distress it up really good. I love that old, torn look. I also added a some flowers. Inside the flower, I added a metal pumpkin charm. I cut out the journaling block with my cuttlebug. I also recycled my title to from a sheet of paper too. So here she is. Recipe Card for Christmas Recipe Swap on Just Scrappin'

Yay!!! I am done with all my swaps!!! Whoo hoo! This recipe card is for a recipe swap on JS. I had to make 10 of these, so it took me a looooong time. The most time consuming was pieceing together 20 of the paper dolls. I did 10 Santa's and 10 Mrs. Claus'. I added stickles to them for some bling. I also ran the hair portions through the cuttlebug with the D'vine Swirl folder. I also used the Swiss dots folder on a portion of Mrs. Claus' dress. These are really simple for me. Do yall think I need to add something or just leave them as is?? Thanks guys! Have a great rest of the evening!

Ok, I just pieced together this monkey and giraffe using the New Arrival Cartridge. Just basic simple cuts, but I wanted to post so my mom can see. Thanks! :)

Handy Manny

Hey yall! Well, I just finished up this character for Carter's ABC book as well. This is Handy Manny. If you are like me and have no clue who this is, go here for a visual...http://www.imdb.com/media/rm9671424/tt0451460. Until this morning, I had no idea who it was. But what a cute character. Carter is going to be Handy Manny for Halloween and all his candy will go in his 'tool box' instead of a bag. How cute is that going to be!!! I will have to post pix when Mom sends them to me. But anywho, here is my PDDU of Handy Manny. I shaded his little cheeks too, but of course, it is not showing up. So visualize cute little pink cheeks! LOL. Thanks for looking!

Aunt Mamie's "Comin' To The Rescue"

LOL! If you have kids and have ever seen Diego...are ya singin' the song yet? Hee Hee. My momma is making my nephew Carter the cutest little ABC book to help him as he learns his ABC's. Well, he knows Diego starts with "D" and poor Momma...she just works all the time. So Aunt Mamie made a paper doll Diego this morning. Let me know what ya think. Next up...Handy Manny. Hee hee. This is fun!!!! A little note too, the blues are darker than what is showing up. I guess the scanner made them a little bright. :)

Yummy Recipe Cards

Happy Monday! Hope everyone is having a great day! I have been busy cleaning and washing clothes all day. But I had to take a minute to scan these to show yall. I am currently participating in 2 recipe swaps. I am participating in one on DIY and one on Just Scrappin'. The following are for the Holiday Recipe Swap on the DIY message board. We are doing recipe cards for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I chose to do a few recipe's from each category.

This first recipe is for the Halloween category. This recipe is so yummo!!! It is called "Spider's Nest Dip" and is great for parties! I used the cricut PDDU (Paper Doll Dress Up) cart for the spiders and spiderweb.

This one is for the Christmas Category. My mom makes this Red Velvet Cake and it is soooo good! I have made it once myself and it is so easy! And decadent! I used the Cricut PDDU for the little old lady. It is actually the Mrs. Clause cut. I added a little spoon to her hand and the bow tie from the groom for her hair. I just love this cut. It reminds me of my grandma in the kitchen cooking. I used Home Accents for the flourish, Wedding Solutions for the Red Velvet Cake, and JOTS (Joys of the Season) for the holly. I also ran the cake through the cuttlebug using the swiss dots folder for added dimension. Then the "Merry Christmas" is a piece of metal confetti.

This next recipe is for a Misc. category. I chose to do Simmering Potpourii. This recipe makes your house smell awesome during the holidays and is so easy to do. I used Home Accents for the pears. I then ran them through the cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirl folder. I also added a purple bow to each.

This recipe is for the Christmas category. I used JOTS for the wreath. I also added some stickles and dew drops to add some interest to it. I also used the Fiskars Threading Water punch and a decorative corner punch.

This one is for the Halloween category. I used PDDU for all the cute little halloween critters on this one. I also used some chalk to shade them some. This is the first time I have tried shading with the PDDU cart and it is fun!!!! I also ran the tomb stone through the cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirl folder for added dimension. I think this one might be my fave.

Oh no, this one might be my fave! LOL. This one is for the Thanksgiving category. I chose to do Sweet Potato Pie. The pilgrims (who are just too darn cute!!! I got the giggles while making these) are PDDU, as is the 'Pumpkin Pie.' The swirl above the pie is from JOTS. Then the leaf on this one is from my good friend Ashley. She cut them with her Pazzles.

This next one is for the Christmas category too. I cut the Santa out with PDDU and ran his beard through the cuttlebug with D'vine swirl. I also addes some stickles to his coat. I used Peachy Keen face stamps for all of these PDDU characters. But I especially like the face on the Santa. It just looks so jolly and def. made me giggle. Hee hee. The reindeer, sleigh, and snowflakes are all from the PDDU cart as well. I also added stickles to the nose of my reindeer.

A Halloween Project

Well, I've been decorating my home a bit for Halloween. I had some basic clear glass plates laying around catching some dust. So instead of not using them, I decided to alter them up and put them on easels for some decoration.

Just A Buggin'

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you are all well. I have been spending most of the day with the hubby, but he's watching football. So I decided to hop up and work on my card for this week's Cuttlebug Challenge. The challenge this week was to do a Halloween card using your Cuttlebug. Well, I just got the Paper Doll cart yesterday (a bday present from mom...thank you momma! LLB!!!), so I had to use it too. So not too much cuttlebug action on the front, but definitely more on the inside. So I used the cricut paper doll cart for the witch, cauldron, bats, cat, grass, haunted house, and tree. The steam coming out of the cauldron is from the Joys of the Season cartridge. I used the Martha Stewart Drippy Goo Border punch for the goo dripping out of the cauldron. Then for my cuttlebug action on the front of the card is the silver moon. I used the faux metal paper look for the moon, cut it in a circle, and then ran it through the Cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirl folder. I've been on a D'vine Swirl kick here lately. Then on the inside, I also used the same method for the silver oval. Then I also used the Cuttlebug "Happy Halloween" Die/Embossing Combo. Thanks for looking! Another pear card

I have discovered the cutest blog from cricut.com. It is called Bitten By The Bug and oh my goodness!!! Wow! Their work is sooo inspirational. This card was done after viewing all of the ladies lovely pear's. This pear is from the Home Accents cart. I knew it was there, but never really knew how to use it. Well, no more after seeing all of the examples shown on that blog! Yall gotta go check it out!!! I also did something else new to me with this one. I did the 'faux metal tile' effect with the cuttlebug. It was so easy to do and I love the look of it! All you do is take some cardstock, apply glue stick, press foil (just basic kitchen aluminum foil) onto the glue, smooth out wrinkles, let dry, and then run it through the cuttlbug with the desired folder. I personally have been on a D'vine Swirl kick here lately, so that is what I used. But I love how it really does look like metal. And anyone can do it with basic stuff in the house! So here it is. To A Sweet "Pear"

Hey everyone!!! I just finished up this card and just had to show yall. I scraplifted this idea from INilda on the cricut message board, with permission of course. She did the most awesome little card with the pear from the Home Accents cart. Then she used the Martha Stewart "Drippy Goo" punch to make it look like it had a chocolate coating just drizzling down over the pear. How cute! I just had to make one too!
