Sweet Olivia

Hey yall! I hope you are enjoying a relaxful Sunday. I just finished up this layout. I am using this for 2 challenges. First, for a sketch challenge called 'Bring on the Bows.' You were to follow the sketch and use a big bow on your layout. Second, for a challenge where you were to showcase your style of scrappin'. This layout is so me. Super glam, super girly, Cricut action always goin' on, lots of dimension, out of the ordinary, minimal pix to show off my papers and embellishment, and my fave colors: pink and lime green. This layout is of my bff from high school's little girl, Olivia. Isn't she a doll? So cute! I used really wide hot pink, satiny ribbon for the big bow. I used Storybook for the shaped paper in the background and for the lettering. Here it is:

I Wish You Love and Best 'Dishes'

ROFL! I must of been in sync with Paula Deen when I wrote that title. FYI...she is a cook on Food Network and she always ends her shows with that phrase. Anywho, I finally finished up all my recipe cards for the recipe swap at DIY! So glad to be done!!! Yippie!

This first recipe is called 'Grilled Shrimp with Mango Salsa.'




Second, one of my faves, 'Cajun Chicken Pasta.' Yummo!!




Third, 'Low Fat Broccoli Soup.'




Fourth, 'Grilled Citrus Steak.' I did not have any cow paper to use on this one, so I made my own. It was fun too! I stamped the cow and used stickles glitter glue to give it some bling.




Fifth, 'Low Carb Pot Roast.' I used some cute beaded trim on these.



So this concludes my recipe cards for DIY. I have one more recipe swap lined up for Just Scrappin'. Then, I think I will take a swap break. LOL.

Mmmmmm.......

Hey yall! I finished up 2 more sets of recipe cards for my swap at DIY tonite. I was in a scrappy mood, but ran out of adhesive! Ugh! So this was all I finished up. This first recipe is called 'Black Bean and Rice Enchilada's.' I embossed my pleats using the D'Vine Swirl and Swiss Dots Embossing folders. Here is this one:



Here is the second one I did. This recipe is called "Rotini Chicken Casserole." I used some ribbon, the Fiskars Threading Water border punch, Orange Stickles, and my Martha Stewart button punch for embellishment.

Majestic

Hey yall! I just finished up this layout and thought I would post. This one is doing triple-duty for 3 separate challenges. The first was a sketch challenge with a twist. You had to follow the sketch given and your picture could not include people, it had to be nature. So I used a picture of some fall foliage taken this past November in Nashville. Second, a challenge on Treasured Scrapbooking where you were to include 2 of the following: tree, bird, flower, and leaf. I have a tree and leaves in the picture, a handmade flower, and leaves in the paper and around the flower. Third, another challenge on Treasured Scrapbooking where you were supposed to recycle. I decided to recycle some paint swatches. These would of ended up in the trash anyway. I wish we had touch-a-vision....these feel so cool! They are like sandstone. It really gives that earthy texture. Here are my paint swatches:

I used my Cricut Plantin' Schoolbook cart to cut my lettering out of the swatches. Also, on the layout I included alot of orange and green scrapbook paint. I tried to make it look distressed. When I think of nature and outside, I think of paint looking like this. I received these leaves in a swap. They are really delicate. They are gold with touches of orange in them. Here is the layout:

These Are The Moments

Hey yall! This layout is doing double duty for me. First, their is a challenge on Treasured Scrapbooking this month to use an imperfect photo (blurry, dark, etc.) on a layout. This photo is just a tad blurry. It was taken the day of my wedding by my mom with her camera while the photographer was taking the professional shots and it came out blurry. Second, it is for a fun, unique challenge on Just Scrappin'. The challenge was to have someone go through your scrapbook stash and pick out 5 things for you to use in a layout. Well, with it only being me and the hubby, he had to pick out my stuff. Well, let me tell ya, he is trained well! LOL. Look at what he picked out for me:

Didn't he do good? I was so relieved. So after he chose the stuff for me to use, I went to work on incorporating all of it into a layout. Here is what I came out with:




When I finished, Brandon kept saying, "I did a good job!!" LOL. He cracks me up!! Thanks for looking! Have a great evening!

Yummy In My Tummy!

Hey yall! I stayed up late finishing more recipe cards for a swap I'm in. I got 3 more sets done. Yay! This first recipe is called "BLT Bow Tie Pasta Salad." I cut my 'bow tie' out using the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge and ran it through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder. I then added a gem on it for some bling. I also incorporated some black/white checkered ribbon. Then for some reason, when I think of bow tie's, I think of roses. So I used rose patterned paper on this one. Here it is:


Second, this recipe is called "Apple Pockets." This recipe was really long, so I had to devise a way for the user to be able to see both cards that the recipe is written on. So I used an eyelet in the top left hand corner. Now, all the person has to do is slide up and to the right on the first card to view the one underneath. I will show a picture of what I mean so you can get a better visual. I cut the apples out using the Happily Ever After cartridge. I embossed my apples with the D'Vine Swirl folder. Here is this one:

See how the first layer moves to reveal the second portion of the recipe? :)


Third, this recipe is called "Light Linguine Carbonara." It is so delicious!!! YUMMO! I used my new Stampin' Up 'Funky Forrest' Wheel stamp to roll on the tree border at the top. I used my Martha Stewart Lace Doily border punch for the bottom. I also incorporated some stitching. Here it is:

Debonair

Happy Monday Yall! I hope your week is getting off to a great start. I just finished up this layout. This one is called 'Debonair' and is of my nephew, Carter. It is for 3 challenges. First, I am hosting a challenge on Just Scrappin' where you are to take advantage of 'white space' on a layout. So this will be my example for the girls. Next, it is for a weekly challenge and a monthly challenge where you were to use a pop of green in your layout. How lucky did I get?! I got to combine both of them and knock 'em out! That is fun!!! I used the DCWV "Green Stack" for this layout. I also incorporated some sewing, a fabric flower, buttons, and some Thickers. My pops of green come in the fabric on the flower, some of the patterned paper has hints of green, and on the thickers. Here it is:

Bring on the Big, Beautiful Bows

Hello everyone! I don't know if you remember, but a few weeks ago I shared the exciting news that I had been selected to be on the Design Team at one of my favorite blogs, The Cuttlebug Spot. Well, this week is my first week! Whoo hoo! The challenge this week was to create a card using big, beautiful bows. Here is the card that I created:

I used the Cuttlebug Script folder to emboss the pink patterned paper and the Swiss Dots folder for the brown cardstock. I chose to lace up my card like a corset...a favorite look of mine. This is so easy and simple to do. I just placed eyelets (using my Crop-A-Dial) in my solid cardstock at 1" intervals. Then you begin your lacing. It is like lacing up a shoe, so really very easy to do. I used some coral-colored grosgrain ribbon for this part. Then I topped off the top with a big bow of sheer pink and brown polka dotted ribbon. I then added a safety pin and a charm to the center of my bow for some added interest. I then stamped my sentiment and used pop dots to raise it up a bit. I also decided to use my sewing machine to add some fine stitching around the perimeter of the patterned paper. Last, I used some ink to distress. This card really was very easy to do and came together in maybe 30 minutes. Why not give it a try? I promise, it is so fun! I Love Those Baby Blues

Hey yall! Well, I got out and about today. It helped me to get a little of my mojo back. So I sat down tonite to do a layout. I chose to do one of my fave little subject, my nephew, Carter. This one is called "I Love Those Baby Blues." Carter has the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen and everyone always comments on them. I added a cordurory fabric frame around the picture. I used Home Decor to cut out the word 'love' and the heart. I also embossed the heart with the words 'I love you' from a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I used Printing Press for the word 'Blues.' I also incorporated some buttons, lace, sewing, chipboard, and some Sizzix die cuts. Here it is:

I just wanted to say 'hi' to all of you! I know I have not posted in a few days. I just cannot seem to get my scrappy mojo goin' on! LOL. I need some creative-ness thrown my way! Buttons! Buttons! Everywhere!

Hey yall! How are ya doin? I hope you had a great weekend. I just finished up two things and wanted to share. First, this week's challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot was to use buttons in your creation. Here is the card I made for this week. I embossed my base with the Paisley embossing folder. Next, I inked a chipboard tree that I had in brown ink and covered the top with an assortment of pink buttons. I embossed the cream paper with the Spots and Dots folder because it reminded me of buttons. I added some pink ribbon and did a little pleating. Then I added a strip of brown mulberry paper that had been embossed with the Button embossing folder. My good friend, Karen sent me a whole bunch of these. I have got to get this folder because it is so cute!!!! Last, I added some Thickers for my sentiment. Here it is:



Also, I finished up this layout. I am hosting a challenge on DIY where you have to find a song and use it as an inspiration for you LO. I chose the song "Reflection" by Christina Aguilera. Being a young adult, I still find myself evolving into the woman I am/will be. I am almost at the point where I am comfortable in my own skin and confident. This songs lyrics really spoke to me. I used some of them for my journaling. The pink you see towards the bottom is fabric that I scalloped the end and roughly pleated. I then added some light pink lace. The flower is cutwork from a patterned piece of cardstock. I also added some gems for the bling. Here it is:

My journaling reads: (excerpt from the song 'Reflection.')
"Look at me, you may think you see who I really am, but you'll never know me. Every day it's as if I play a part. Now I see if I wear a mask I can fool the world but I cannot fool my heart. I am now in a world where I have to hide my heart and what I believe in. But somehow I will show the world whats inside my heart and be loved for who I am. Why must we all conceal what we think and how we feel? Must there be a secret me I'm forced to hide? I won't pretend that I'm someone else for all time! When will my reflection show who I am inside?"
