Snowflakes Are Kisses Sent From Heaven

Hey y'all! Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! We have another fun challenge for you at My Craft Spot. This is challenge #41 and is called 'Snow Much Fun.' This week we are creating projects centered around snow/snowmen! If you would like to check out my fellow DT's fabulous projects and get info on entering the challenge, go HERE. Of course, there is a prize up for grabs! Woot woot!

For my DT project this week I decided to go with a card. When I think of snow/snowmen, the first thought that comes to my mind is all of the beautiful colors. I love when the rays of sunlight hit the snow and you see that rainbow of colors. For me, I always noticed the cool blues, creams, silvers, and a touch of brown. I know the snow is not brown, but I always see the branches sticking out of the snow. So when I sat down to create my project, these are the colors I kept in mind. I knew I wanted to add lots of sparkle to the card too to mimic the way the snow sparkles. To create my shimmering effect, I used rhinestones and some trim I found in the floral department that sparkles. Here is my card...

"Snowflakes Are Kisses Sent From Heaven"

Supplies Used
Cardstock: The Paper Studio
Patterned Paper: Die Cuts With A View
Journaling Page: Making Memories
Rhinestones: Creative Charms
Thread: Coats & Clark
Chipboard Button, Die Cut: Jenni Bowlin Studio
Stamps, Twine: My Craft Spot
Ink: Stampin' Up!
Adhesive: Helmar
Other: floral embellishment, sewing machine
This stamped image is from the 'White Christmas' stamp set at My Craft Spot.
 Up close of some embellishments...
This card has a lot of dimension to it. I think I will give it out by hand. Katie Scarlett, my Yorkie, has her spay surgery today. This card is a 'thank you' card so I thought I may give it to the staff at our vet to thank them for taking care of our baby.
I tied twine on my chipboard button.
Here is the inside of my card. I used a stamp from the 'Sweet Sentiments 1' set at My Craft Spot.
I hope you have enjoyed this card and that you'll hop on over to My Craft Spot to join us for the challenge! See you there!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Happy Scrappin'!!!

That's beautiful, Aymee!! I've been really tempted to try stitching on my cards (other than hand-stitching). I have an ANCIENT sewing machine that belonged to my grandmother - the kind that you pull up out from under the table? It is so stinkin' heavy! Anyway, I don't use it for anything else but thought I might try it. Any suggestions/tips?

Thanks Ann!

I am a beginner to sewing too. I have a basic brother sewing machine. My Mom got it for me for Christmas. I think it has touched fabric maybe 3 times. LOL. I just use it for my papercrafting. For me, I just keep the settings on the same as fabric and have had good success so far. I've tried zig zag, straight, and a bit of decorative stitching. It really is very easy. As a matter of fact, I find it easier than sewing on fabric. I am not sure how to explain it, but the fabric moves and the paper does not move as much. It's just easier to stitch on. I did a lot of practice on scrap paper beforehand to make sure I had the hang of it. My best advice would be just to jump in and give it a try. I promise, it's so easy!!! Good luck! :)

Absolutely beautiful card and I love those colors. If you barely close your eyes and look at the snow it gives off all those spectacular colors and sparkle. I love Katie Scarlett. I lost my little boy, Toby, a Pekingese in Nov. I am so lost and thinking about getting another baby.
