Custom Ordered Canvasas

Hey y'all! How are ya?! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I had a wonderful weekend! My family got together to eat some goodies and play cards on Saturday night (which was such a hoot!) and then I got to scrap all day today (I will share that with ya tomorrow). It was a great weekend!

I wanted to hop online right quick tonite to share a couple of projects with you. I created these this past week, but didn't snap pix until today. Anyways, yall know I've been on a canvas craze, right? Well I was asked by my good friend, Tara, to create some canvases for her.

First up, Tara requested a canvas for her sweet little girl, Olivia. Tara wanted something in pink and lime green. She also said she'd like something girly. Well, this was right up my alley so I got to work on this one first and I am SOOO pleased with how this one turned out! It is just so girly girl and so me! I so hope she'll like it. I tried to make it cutesy, but also make it something that could grow with Olivia as she gets older. I started by painting the canvas lime green. It took 4 coats of paint to get it completely coated. After the paint had dried, I cut the chandelier from the Cricut 'Home Decor' cartridge in a green polka dot patterned paper. I shadowed it in pink. I then cut the name 'Olivia' out of some pink/white zebra patterned paper and shadowed it in pink. I cut it out using a font called "Lauren Script' using my Cricut and SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) software. I cut out various sizes of circles in the pink zebra patterned paper to add next. After I had everything adhered down, I sealed the canvas to protect it. I used 4 coats. After my sealant had dried thoroughly, I added some yummy bling through rhinestones and peals. Then came time for the part I think I was most excited about....the hanging part. I usually use ribbon for these, but while shopping for this project, I found the CUTEST hot pink fur trim! I just knew I had use it and I love the way it turned out! I also added in a bit of pink zebra print ribbon. Here is what the final canvas looks like:

Again, love love love me some fur trim!!!
Second up, a canvas for Tara. She is an elementary school teacher and asked me to create a canvas for her classroom. Tara asked for something with primary colors, bold, and vivid. She did not want anything school related. She is super organized, so I knew I wanted something with clean lines. So here is what I came up with....
I started by painting the canvas a blue color. I went over the blue with a little bit of watered down white paint to give it a white washed effect. I then chose some patterned paper from My Mind's Eye that had the cutest bird on it. The bird has primary colors in it, but also has some other colors. Tara teaches 2nd grade and I thought the children might like the bird.  I then cut out a banner using my SCAL software. I put her last name on the banner and 'Mrs.' above the banner. I cut the 'Mrs.' out in a font called 'Curlz' and the last name in 'Arial Bold.' After adhering everything down, I added 4 coats of sealant and then added some bling through the use of blue and red rhinestones. I then chose to add some green/white polka dotted ribbon to act as a hanger. To me, this canvas just reminds me of my friend Tara. I really hope she'll like it!!!!

 Isn't this the cutest bird?!!!

So that is what I was up to this past week. I can't wait to give these to Tara. They are SOOO much cuter in person and I hope she'll just love 'em! My fingers are crossed!

Y'all have a great evening!
Happy Scrappin'!

Those are great!!! I would love to make some of these for my kids doors and for their teacher's too!! What kind of paint and sealant do you use? And do you use a special adhesive to adhere the the rhinestones and other embellishments so they "stay"?

Thanks guys!

Heather-I have used 2 types of sealant. On the other canvases I made earlier (I think it's 2 posts below this one) I used Helmar Antique Acrylic Sealer. But on these 2, I used Mod Podge to seal them. I used 4 light coats, letting each coat dry about 30 minutes in between. Before sealing, I adhere everything my go to, favorite adhesive...Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. I love this stuff! I never worry about things coming undone with it. I put teh rhinestones, which were adhesive backed on after I had sealed it. Sometimes I go over these with more sealer, sometimes not. They seem to be really tacked on, so sometimes I don't. For non adhesive backed rhinetones, I used Helmar Gemstone Glue. As for paint, I just used basic craft paint you can find at any craft store. I believe the brand I used was called Apple Barrel.

I hope you will give these a try! You will be hooked! They are so much fun!!!!

And thanks for visiting my blog!
